ROCKVIEW, Mo. -- Another train derailed Monday in Rockview on tracks shared by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe and Union Pacific rail companies.
The derailment happened at about 4:30 p.m. at a curve; four railcars were thrown from the tracks. Two fell onto their sides and a white powdery substance spilled from a container.
Several Burlington Northern crews were on the scene working to assess the situation.
"It sounded like the train was coming right through my kitchen," said Carol Gribbler, whose backyard is adjacent to the derailment site. Gribbler is no stranger to the sound of a derailment, saying she knew what was happening before she stepped out her back door.
There was no word on the cause of the derailment late Monday afternoon.
In January, a Union Pacific train traveling in the same area was derailed by a strong wind gust. It was initially unclear if the Burlington Northern train was traveling on the same set of tracks recently repaired after the previous derailment.
