Traffic should start flowing on the new bridge over the Little Whitewater River in Bollinger County today or Friday, according to a Missouri Department of Transportation news release.
According to the release, Penzel Construction plans to divert traffic from a temporary bypass around the bridge, which was used during construction, to the new bridge. The next phase of construction -- removing the bypass, constructing shoulders and slopes and replacing asphalt shoulders and roadway -- will then begin.
The work zone will have a posted speed limit of 45 miles per hour.
The bridge is 2.5 miles west of Highway 51 at Patton, Mo.
Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily until the end of October.
