Cape Girardeau police officers conducted a traffic stop Wednesday on William Street to find that the driver had an active warrant from New Madrid, Missouri, and 51 assorted pills in the vehicle's center console.
Patrolman Joshua Potts conducted the stop at about 11 a.m. and immediately smelled marijuana emanating from the vehicle, according to a probable-cause statement. Potts checked Cory Vince Rowe, 26, of Cape Girardeau, operator's license and found he had an active warrant. Rowe later was removed from the vehicle and placed in handcuffs, Potts wrote.
Potts and another officer began searching the vehicle and found a bag of pills in the center console, multiple of which were labeled "alien head," which is common slang for Ecstasy, Potts wrote. Rowe later admitted the pills were MDMA, which he referred to as molly.
Officers also found 21 grams of marijuana in a black backpack, some of which was packaged in a manner that implied an intent to distribute the substance, according to the statement.
Rowe was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. His bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety.
