Many children in Cape Girardeau won't have a merry Christmas unless more donations to Toybox come in. There are only a few toys left to fill the more than 300 application requests remaining -- and time is running short. Delivery is set for Dec. 20.

Toybox is a joint program of the Cape Girardeau Jaycees and the Southeast Missourian that serves needy children in the community. Gifts are needed for children up to age 12.

Chrissy, 10, wants a new radio with a CD player. Her brother, Kyle, 6, wants Digimon toys, small toy soldiers and the character figures from the "Toy Story" movie.

The youngest in the family, 2-year-old Deana, wants a tricycle she can ride around the house.

Another family has requested educational toys and games for the 2-year-old and 8-year-old. The younger child, a girl, wants a play kitchen set and a vacuum and telephone. The older child, a boy, wants a remote-controlled car and some games. He also likes toy guns.

Drop-off locations for new, unused toys are Southeast Missourian offices, AAA Travel Agency, First National Bank, Firstar Bank, Check Please, Bank of America, Sanders True Value, Bank of Missouri, Capaha Bank, Cingular Wireless, Union Planters Bank, Alliance Bank, Wehrenberg Theatres, Commerce Bank at the Cape LaCroix Road location only, Westfield Shoppingtown West Park and SunCom Wireless.

New toys must be delivered to the drop-off sites before Dec. 20.

Tax-deductible contributions may be mailed to Toybox Trust, P.O. Box 4, Cape Girardeau, Mo. 63702-0004.
