CAPE GIRARDEAU -- A merchant says he is giving away yellow-ribbon bows in hopes that people will put them on their vehicle antennas to show support for U.S. military personnel in the Middle East.

Mike Redfearn, owner of Party Palace, Town Plaza, said he plans to give away at least 5,000 bows.

Redfearn said he wants to see a bow on every car in Cape Girardeau.

"The majority has been silent long enough; it's time we show our support," he said. "If we give away the 5,000, we'll come up with more."

Redfearn said one bow will be given to anyone who goes to the store and requests one.
