SHORT-RANGE PROJECTS

The Cape Girardeau City Council on Tuesday approved the following projects, which would take place within the next 12 months:

* Directional signs with landscaping: $5,000

* Billboards/outdoor advertising: $20,000

* Enhancing Civil War sites, Fort D phase one: $2,500

* Docent tours of local history museums coordinated by city visitors bureau: $8,000

* Transit trolley, $20,000, local match to federal funding: Total cost is expected to be $140,000

* Preservation of archway to old river bridge: Cost to be determined

* Coordinated marketing and advertising efforts to promote tourism: $20,000

* Promotional video/DVD: $23,000
