TOT DIES WHEN TRUCK HITS BIKE

MARION, Ill. -- A 3-year-old boy was killed when his bicycle with training wheels ran into the path of a dump truck here Monday.

Joshua Trevor Lence died Monday evening at Marion Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in the accident.

Williamson County Coroner Monty Blue said Lence rode his bike into the path of a dump truck, driven by Gary Pritchett, 29, of Goreville, Ill.

Blue said several witnesses saw the boy ride into the path of the truck.

"He was riding in the parking lot of an apartment complex and went down the drive and never stopped," Blue said.

The apartment complex on East Boyton Street did have a sloping driveway, he added.
