LEOPOLD, Mo. — A small tornado — on the enhanced Fujita scale it ranked 1 — was confirmed by National Weather Service investigators Monday. The twister struck just after noon Sunday, damaging two buildings on Pat Peter's property just outside of Leopold, three miles south of Marble Hill, Mo., and moved to one mile north of Dutchtown. Winds peaked at 85 mph while creating a seven-mile long, 70-yard-wide path of debris. Investigators found shingles partially or completely ripped from the roofs of six homes. The tornado completely destroyed three barns and tore siding off some homes. In one area, two-by-four boards were shot through the exterior walls of what investigators called "a well-built home." In Gordonville, high winds from the same storm collapsed a barn, killing one cow and injuring several others.
