Ahh... Valentine's Day. Even though there are 364 other glorious days in the year, Feb. 14 is chosen by lovers to express their love for one another through flowers, teddy bears and candy hearts. Another favorite expression of love is through food. A stomach filled with tasty food and wine is likely to be a happy one. So if you're not kitchen savvy and you don't want to take your date to The Olive Garden for the millionth time, there are plenty of restaurants in Cape to impress her or his tummy while still being able to make your rent payment.

1. Bella Italia is at the top of my list for their romantic atmosphere, delicious wine and Italian food selection and excellent service. Entrees start at about $10.50 per plate and are reasonably priced considering the portion sizes and unlimited amount of bread served throughout the meal. The only downfall is they don't take reservations, so it would be best to make it an early dinner or be prepared to wait in line.

2. If you're into sushi and Thai cuisine, Saffron is another great place for a romantic evening. Although this is the priciest of the bunch, with entrees starting at $12.95, it is possible to eat here and not rack up a huge bill. Their wok creations are significantly cheaper, starting at $6.95 and there's always enough for leftovers. Saffron does take reservations and I would suggest making them soon if you want a spot for the big day.

3. If you don't mind the smoke, California Juice Club has a wide variety of Greek cuisine, pastas, pizza and wine. Lovers can eat anything from calzones and toasted ravioli to kabobs and chicken souvlaki. The candlelit tables, dim lighting and worldly music set the perfect mood for two people in love. Prices for food here vary, but won't make an enormous dent in your wallet. Make sure to ask for special entrees of the night and make your reservations ahead of time.

4. Last, but not least, is Global Cafe. A lunch buffet by day turns into a charming dinner venue by night. A fusion of international cuisine makes this restaurant an adventurous place to take a date. Be prepared for lots of curry, coconut and exotic herb flavors. Entrees start at about $11 per person, but are served with eggrolls and naan bread or rice. Reservations are accepted.

If you don't make it on Valentine's Day, think about checking one of these places out instead of Red Lobster or Ruby Tuesdays for a change; you might be surprised what your taste buds enjoy.
