SCOTT CITY - Three months into 1993, total billable tonnage running through the Southeast Missouri Regional Port Authority is about two-thirds of what it was for all of last year.

In 1992, 72,615 tons were moved through the port, an all-time record. But that record is not likely to last long since 48,768 tons have already moved through the port so far this year.

During the month of March, total billable tons came to 18,273, which is slightly double the tonnage handled in March 1992.

The tonnage report was given at a brief meeting of the port authority's board of commissioners Monday.

The meeting was the first for new executive director Dan Overbey, who was named to the position last Wednesday.

Allan Maki resigned the position at the board's March 8 meeting. He had been executive director since March 1988.
