Police issued an Amber Alert.

A Jefferson City radio station said it aired an Associated Press story about the Amber Alert on its 7:50 a.m. newscast. KTXY-FM News Director Shellie Tucker said moments later, a motorist called to report that she was behind the car bearing the license plate included in the alert and that she had already called 911.

Police said the boy's mother, Kassi Elliott, another teenage girl and a man involved in the abduction were taken into custody around 8:30 a.m.
