KENNETT, Mo. -- A 22-month-old was pronounced dead after being found Friday in the family swimming pool.
According to Dunklin County Sheriff Bob Holder, about 7:30 p.m. a call was received requesting a deputy respond to Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center to investigate a report that a child had been brought to the hospital after being recovered from the family pool and was currently receiving medical attention.
Upon arrival, deputies learned that a 22-month-old child had been outside playing with three other children, ages 4, 13, and 15.
During the investigation, deputies learned that the children were asked to come inside for dinner and it was at that time that it was discovered that child was missing. The family began searching for the child and the father found him in the family's above ground pool and immediately removed him.
Deputies said the child's parents immediately got in their vehicle and started to the hospital while the mother administered CPR.
Following treatment, the child was flown by helicopter to LeBonheur Hospital at Memphis, Tenn.
At approximately 4 a.m. Saturday, information was received that the child had died.
