Cape County Democratic Chairman Todd McBride survived a challenge Tuesday for his seat on the party's county central committee.

McBride, committeeman in Ward 8, was challenged by Thomas M. Meyer. McBride won by a margin of 104 to 76.

Had he lost, McBride would have no longer been eligible to serve as chairman of the party, a post he has held for six years.

McBride is also serving his first two-year term as chairman of the 8th District Democratic Committee, and a loss for committeeman would have made him ineligible to seek that post also.

McBride said he is undecided whether to run for county chairman again, but will likely attempt to retain the 8th District post.

New party officers will be elected later this month.

In the only other race Tuesday for central committee jobs, Mary Ellen Ueleke defeated Julia Kridelbaugh for Republican committeewoman in Ward 13 by 147 to 124.
