He received a bachelor's degree from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, and a master's and doctorate degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
He is associate professor of Christian Studies at Union University, where he taught New Testament and all levels of Biblical Greek.
He and his wife, Janet, have three children and live in Humboldt, Tenn.
