READING, Pa. (AP) — A confessed serial killer has pleaded guilty to the 1979 rape and murder of a nurse in southeast Pennsylvania.
Sixty-three-year-old Timothy Krajcir (KRI'-chur) was sentenced Friday to life in prison after admitting that he killed 51-year-old Myrtle Rupp inside her Berks County home in 1979.
Krajcir has admitted to killing nine women in four states. He has already received life sentences for five killings in southeast Missouri and two killings in southern Illinois.
DNA evidence implicated him in several of the slayings. He confessed after receiving assurances he wouldn't face the death penalty.
He's been in prison since 1983 for other sex crimes.
