JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- With legislation that would make Missouri a "right-to-work" state on the fast track in the Missouri Senate, Speaker of the House Steven Tilley, R-Perryville, is in no hurry to proceed with the legislation should it pass the Senate and come to the House. At his weekly pre-session news conference, Tilley told reporters he does not see the legislation as a priority of the state's business leaders, and that the House does not have a solid consensus on the bill. The chamber will work on a package of six bills backed by a consortium of state business lobbying groups, and the right to work legislation is not one of those bills, Tilley said. "Right now, we're going to focus on the things that the business coalition sent us at the beginning of the year and find some compromise on those issues."
