Tigers from Mo. sanctuary arrive in Colorado

CALHAN, Colo. -- Ten tigers from an animal park in Missouri that closed after a volunteer was attacked by a tiger have arrived at a sanctuary in Colorado, station KRDO-TV in Colorado Springs reported.

The cats arrived Sunday at the Serenity Springs Wildlife Center in Calhan. The center is due to receive 15 tigers overall from Wesa-A-Geh-Ya in Warren County, Mo. That center closed after a volunteer lost part of his leg in a tiger attack last month. The tiger was killed.

Serenity Springs Wildlife Center staff plan to return to Missouri next weekend for more tigers. Other sanctuaries also accepted animals from Wesa-A-Geh-Ya.

After Serenity Springs obtains four other animals from Nevada and California, it will have nearly 120 big cats.
