Ticket sales are slow for Saturday's charity football game pitting local law enforcement against the Springfield Police Department.
The proceeds from the event benefit Easter Seals.
Det. Richard Rushin of the Jackson police, an organizer of the event, said the bulk of the ticket sales and donations are expected on game day.
Officer Kevin Shipley of the Springfield police said the annual football game that pits his team against a team from the Springfield Fire Department collected about $18,000 for their charity last year.
Although event organizers don't expect $18,000 in proceeds, Rushin said half of Springfield's tally would be a worthwhile goal. "We just want everyone to know that we're out there for fun, and it's for charity," he said.
Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children and children under five are admitted free. Tickets can be purchased in advance from local law enforcement agencies, SEMO Specialties & Sports in Cape Girardeau and Jackson and both Schnucks locations in Cape Girardeau.
The event promises to be entertaining, Rushin said, with the game ball parachuted in, cheerleaders from the St. Louis Rams and halftime prizes for spectators.
