Three suspected of using stolen credit device in Cape, Perry counties

Cape Girardeau County sheriff's deputies and officers with the Jackson Police Department arrested three people on suspicion that they fraudulently used of a stolen credit device from local businesses in Cape Girardeau and Perry counties on Thursday and Friday.

The suspects reportedly began the crime Tuesday morning and purchased approximately $2,500 in total merchandise from the businesses.

At this time, only one person has been formally charged, according to a news release from the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department. John W. Dillard, 19, of Cape Girardeau, is charged with one count of a fraudulent use of a credit device. His bond is set at $10,000 cash only.

Dillard and the other two suspects are in custody at the Cape Girardeau County Justice Center.

The filling of formal charges for the other two suspects are pending.

Many of the stolen items purchased have been recovered.

Additional arrests are expected as officers continue investigating the case.
