Mom and Dad would love to encourage their children's desire to bake, but need help from Santa to make it possible. Three sisters, ages 6, 9 and 10, love to bake in the kitchen, and an Easy Bake Oven with food sets would make their Christmas wonderful. These three are all-girl when it comes to toys, and their wish list for Santa is filled with Polly Pocket sets, Strawberry Shortcake play sets, Littlest Pet Shop play sets and Sky Dancer toys. They also love "High School Musical" items as well as Wonder Dough to create things with.

Help make Christmas a special memory by bringing any new toys to one of the Toybox locations, including the Southeast Missourian at 301 Broadway. Or you can make monetary donations to Toybox, P.O. Box 4, Cape Girardeau, MO 63702. Here are some most requested items by the children: learning toys, educational games, Barbies, Transformers, "High School Musical" video, board games, children's books, trucks, outdoor games and Hannah Montana, Dora the Explorer and Spider-Man items.

At 77 years old, Mr. K has raised two grandchildren after their mother died. He lives alone now on Medicare and disability, but that doesn't cover all of his medical conditions, which include congestive heart failure, diabetes and pneumonia. He uses a wheelchair to get around his trailer. Mr. K could really use some household items like sheets, blankets and pillows for a twin bed. Clothing such as pajamas in size large, socks size 9 1/2 to 11, gloves, size large and warm shoes, size 10, would really make his Christmas bright this year.

You can help Mr. K and other needy elderly people in the area by buying these needed items, including grocery gift cards and personal grooming and cleaning supplies, and delivering them to the Southeast Missourian, 301 Broadway. Monetary donations can also be sent to Christmas for the Elderly, P.O. Box 4, Cape Girardeau, MO 63702. All elderly served are living independently on limited incomes with few, if any, family members. They would greatly appreciate your sharing spirit.
