PERRYVILLE -- Two city aldermen will be uncontested in their April bids for re-election.
Three seats on the six-member Board of Aldermen are up for re-election. Filing for the April 6 municipal election closed Tuesday.
Ward I Alderman Paul Dunlap and Ward III Alderman Gary Schumer will run unopposed.
Dunlap, seeking his seventh term, has served since 1987.
Schumer, first elected in 1993, is looking for a third term.
Both Dunlap and Schumer said Perryville is a strong and growing community and that they wish to continue to be a part of shaping its future.
Ward II Alderman Randy Leible will face a challenge from Robert G. Keller, a first-time candidate.
Leible, who was originally elected in 1993 and is seeking a fourth term, said he wants another term to see projects such as the new Perry County multipurpose building and water system improvements to completion.
Keller, whose phone number is unlisted, could not be reached for comment.
Perryville aldermen serve two-year terms and earn $3,600 a year.
