Three suspects were taken into custody Wednesday to face accusations of child sex abuse, according to a news release from Perry County Sheriff Gary Schaaf.
Arrested were Daniel S. Fortner, Chase A. Knapp and Kayla Pulliam, all from Perryville. Fortner, 37, faces the most serious offenses, with a class A felony for child molestation with a child under 12, and four other felonies for sexual misconduct, failing to register as a sex offender, and two counts of providing pornographic material to minors.
Fortner pleaded guilty in 2002 in the sexual assault of a 3-year-old girl in New Madrid County. Bond was set in Fortner's new case at $10,000 cash-only. Fortner is being held in Illinois pending extradition.
Knapp, 29, faces charges of felony child molestation and sexual misconduct involving a child under 15. Bond is set for Knapp at $5,000 cash.
Pulliam, 24, faces misdemeanor charges of child molestation and sexual misconduct. She was taken into custody, booked and released on a criminal summons. The incidents took place, according to a 15-year-old boy and his younger sister, in July.
