Three more Missouri entities receive rural Internet funds

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Three Missouri entities are receiving nearly $58 million from the federal government for rural high-speed Internet projects.

Sen. Claire McCaskill and Gov. Jay Nixon said Monday that Show-Me Technologies, of Marshfield, will receive nearly $27 million from the U.S. Commerce Department to expand broadband Internet service.

They said Cass County will get more than $26 million from the U.S. Agriculture Department to build a broadband network.

And the Missouri Department of Higher Education will receive nearly $5 million from the federal Commerce Department to expand a network of public computer centers across the state.

With the latest announcements, Missouri entities now have been allotted about $275 million of federal stimulus funds for high-speed Internet.
