Three people were injured in separate accidents Wednesday in the region.
James Snider, 30, of Cape Girardeau was seriously injured when his vehicle ran off the road, hit 50 feet of barbed wire fence and then hit a tree.
Snider was taken to St. Francis Medical Center for treatment.
He had been driving along Highway M in Bollinger County about 10 miles west of Marble Hill, Mo., early Wednesday morning when the accident occurred, according to reports from the Missouri Highway Patrol.
A Dupo, Ill., man was injured when his vehicle ran off the road, hit a highway sign a concrete culvert and eventually overturned after traveling down an embankment.
Jeffery Capps, 35, suffered minor injuries in the accident. He had been wearing a seat belt.
Capps was driving on Route KK about four miles west of Old Appleton, according to the patrol report. He was taken to St. Francis Medical Center for treatment.
George Borghardt, 27, of St. Louis also was injured in an accident that happened on Interstate 55 about 13 miles north of Cape Girardeau.
Borghardt also was treated at St. Francis Medical Center. He lost control of his car on a wet surface, crossed the median and hit a rock bluff.
He had been wearing a seat belt and suffered moderate injuries, the patrol said.
