Two Sedgewickville girls sustained moderate injuries Friday when their car struck a tree while trying to avoid another vehicle that pulled into their path.

The driver, Ashley Brune, 16, and passenger Holly Boyd, 15, were both taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau after the 3 p.m. accident. It occurred on Route K at the Sedgewickville city limits in Bollinger County.

In an earlier accident in the region Friday, a Dexter driver received moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident on Highway F, 2 miles south of Aid. Linda Jarrell, 34, was taken to Dexter Memorial Hospital after the 9 a.m. accident.

The driver of the other vehicle, Lennis Stroud, 41, of Puxico was not injured.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when Stroud's vehicle attempted to make a left turn into a private drive and collided with Jarrell's vehicle.
