Three people were injured in a two-car accident Monday night on Nash Road.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, two pickup trucks were traveling east on Nash Road about a mile west of Interstate 55 a little before 8 p.m. One truck attempted to pass the other, which made an unexpected left turn, police said.
The passing vehicle hit the lead truck on the driver's side door and continued on another 108 feet before coming to rest in a ditch. Witnesses said the vehicle flipped as many as four times.
The driver of that truck, Michael R. Wyatt, 20, of Scott City was taken by private vehicle to St. Francis Medical Center to be checked out. A 14-year-old passenger in that car, who was not identified by police, was thrown about 30 feet from the pickup and landed on an embankment of the ditch.
Trooper Brad Lively said the passenger was unconscious when he arrived and was taken to St. Francis Medical Center by ambulance.
The driver of the lead truck, Richard Meyers, 21, of 754 Woodbine in Cape Girardeau was also thrown from his vehicle. Meyers landed on the road and suffered several cuts, Lively said. Meyers was also taken to St. Francis Medical Center by ambulance.
A passenger in Meyers's truck was also transported to St. Francis and was complaining of neck pain. Lively did not have the passenger's identification.
