THREE INJURED IN ACCIDENT

BENTON, Mo. -- Three Benton residents were injured Sunday afternoon in a two-car accident east of Benton.

Driver Melissa Zimmerman, 22, and her passenger Sarah Butler, 17, were taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau after the 5:50 p.m. accident on Highway 77, a mile east of Benton.

Chrystal Buck, 16, was taken to Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Carrol Sickal, 70, of Benton. Sickal was not injured.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reported Sickal attempted to make a left turn from the Interstate-55 exit ramp onto Highway 77 and pulled into the path of the Zimmerman vehicle.
