Three members of a suburban Chicago family were killed in a one-car accident on Interstate 55 five miles north of Jackson, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
All three died at the scene of the accident, which occurred shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday.
Rita Domitro, 47, of Franklin Park, Ill., lost control of the vehicle she was driving and it skidded off the roadway and rolled down an embankment, the patrol said. Domitro's 45-year-old husband, Werner, and her 12-year-old son, Andrew, were ejected from the car.
Another son was also ejected from the car and hospitalized with moderate injuries.
At least eight people have died on Missouri roads during the Memorial Day holiday weekend, the patrol said.
