Three die in Southeast Missouri accidents Tuesday

Three people lost their lives in unrelated Southeast Missouri accidents and a Bernie, Mo., man sustained serious injuries when he lost control of his sport utility vehicle on a snowy Highway 25 Tuesday.

Lewis M. Gregory, 32, of Bernie was driving his 2002 Chevrolet north on Highway 25 around 5:15 a.m. when he left the roadway and overturned. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital with serious injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the first of three fatal accidents at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. 61 about three miles south of Sikeston, Mo.

According to the patrol, Paul D. Glaus, 66, of Sikeston pulled into the path of a Freightliner truck driven by Tony A. McCoy, 41, of Portageville, Mo., as the truck was passing Glaus. He was taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital where he later died.

A passenger Glaus's vehicle, 27-year-old Matthew L. Marshall of Sikeston, sustained serious injuries in the wreck and was airlifted from the scene to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

McCoy sustained minor injuries.

Roy J. Nunnery, 54, of Hiram, Mo., died Tuesday after his vehicle left Route C two miles south of Highway 34 in Wayne County, overturned and struck a tree at about 6:30 p.m. Nunnery was ejected from the vehicle and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Leigh A. Brashear, 31, of Sikeston was killed on Route AA one mile south of Miner, Mo., as she was walking in the northbound lane of the highway.

According to the patrol report, Randy J. Marks, 44, of Sikeston was southbound, passing a slow-moving vehicle when he struck Brashear.
