SIKESTON, Mo. -- Three Lilbourn, Mo., residents were arrested Thursday on burglary and stealing charges for allegedly breaking into automated teller machines at three local banks, the Standard Democrat newspaper reported.
According to Sikeston Department of Public Safety, Ashley Smith, 25; Robert Smith, 31; and Johnny Smith, 32, all of Lilbourn were arrested following an investigation into the burglary and property damage of the automated teller machine located on the west side of the parking lot at Alliance Bank, 820 North Main St. in Sikeston.
Sikeston DPS patrol officers received an alarm call at Alliance Bank at 1:40 a.m. Thursday. At 1:59 a.m. officers found Ashley Smith sitting in her vehicle behind the Medical Arts Pharmacy building which is located just north of Alliance Bank. It was an officer's identification of Ashley Smith that led to the follow-up investigation and arrests of Robert Smith and Johnny Smith.
All three subjects were also charged with felony property damage and felony stealing in relation to damage sustained to the automated teller machine located on the east side of Montgomery Bank at 2201 East Malone in Miner.
Charges were filed through Scott County, and bond was set at $10,000 cash only for Johnny Smith and $5,000 cash only for Robert Smith and Ashley Smith.
Robert Smith and Johnny Smith were also charged with the Aug. 10 property damage sustained to an automated teller machine belonging to First State Community Bank, 1214 N. Douglass St., in Malden. Bond was set at $100,000 cash only for Johnny Smith and $100,000 cash only for Robert Smith.
