SIKESTON, Mo. -- Three suspects are facing charges in connection with a home invasion at a Sikeston residence Wednesday morning.

Just after midnight the Sikeston Department of Public Safety received a call from a 24-year-old Sikeston woman reporting a robbery at her home. At the residence, the victims told officers that around 12:09 a.m., three men entered their home, armed with a firearm. They stated they awoke to a gunshot in the residence.

According to the Department of Public Safety report, the three offenders went into a bedroom and assaulted a 21-year-old man in bed. Although not shot, he was struck several times and received minor injuries to his head and face.

The suspects demanded money and stole a small amount of cash from the residence. The three offenders fled from the residence once they found the money, according to the news release.

A 6-year-old was asleep inside the residence when this incident took place. The mother and her child were not injured during the altercation, the Department of Public Safety said.

Neal, 19, of St. Louis, were each charged by the Scott County prosecutor's office with first-degree assault, first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. Bond is set at $100,000 each, and they are being held in the Scott County Jail awaiting arraignment.

The injured victim was taken to Missouri Delta Medical Center for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery, the Department of Public Safety reported.

The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Sikeston Department of Public Safety at 573-471-4711 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 573-471-1500. All tips can remain anonymous.
