Three seniors from Jackson, Saxony Lutheran and Cape Girardeau high schools recently were selected as Missouri Scholars 100 for 2015.
William Allen of Jackson High School, Joshua Vogel of Saxony Lutheran High School and Alex Gentle of Cape Girardeau Central High School, as well as their parents and principals, have been invited to attend the Missouri Scholars 100 luncheon April 26 in Columbia.
The Missouri Scholars 100 program is sponsored by the Missouri Association of Secondary Schools Principals to recognize the top 100 graduates from a combined graduating class in Missouri of about 60,000.
Each student nominated had to satisfy the criteria of an academic decathlon, which includes 10 scored events designed to assess the academic strength of the students.
Phil Lewis, executive director of the association, said in a news release from the school districts: "Students who are selected to this program have taken a rigorous course of study and have maintained the highest academic standards. MASSP wants to celebrate the achievement and success of these students and of their schools."
