MARBLE HILL -- Republican Scott E. Thomsen squeezed by longtime Democratic incumbent Bill Hopkins for Bollinger County associate circuit judge in Tuesday's election.

Republican incumbent Elwood Mouser won another four years as presiding commissioner, outpolling Democrat E. Marshall Stroder.

Junior E. Cook, Democratic incumbent, survived by a 34-vote margin over Republican Sharon K. Smith for 2nd District associate commissioner.

Republican Sharon Lutes will be the new circuit clerk-recorder of deeds, beating Democrat Mary Filer Hager.

Republican incumbent Diane Holzum easily won as county clerk, beating Democrat Margie Cook Gaines by 863 votes.

Democrat Bob Anderson beat Republican Jerry V. Marquis for county collector.

Republican incumbent Naomi Null won the county treasurer's race over Democrat Joe Carlisle by a 2-to-1 margin.

Turnout in Bollinger County was 61 percent with about 4,400 votes cast.

Bollinger County voters gave Republican Bill Emerson the nod with 3,104 votes for U.S. Rep. from Missouri's 8th Congressional District. Democrat Jay Thompson received 1,075 votes and Libertarian Greg Tlapek had 97.

In the statewide races, Bollinger County voted for Republican John Ashcroft for U.S. Senate, 2,987, Democrat Alan Wheat 1,128, and Libertarian Bill Johnson 105.

Missouri State Auditor -- Democrat Steve Danner, 1,619; Republican Margaret Kelly, 2,448; and Libertarian Grant Stauffer, 55.

Amendment 6 -- 1,490 yes, 2,627 no.

Amendment 7 -- 1,545 yes, 2,616 no.
