An AMBER alert that was issued this morning after a man allegedly abducted his wife and infant child in Scott City was canceled early this afternoon after police found the suspect and stopped him on Interstate 44 near Cuba, Mo.

Nixon asks for major disaster declaration

Gov. Jay Nixon today asked the feds to issue a major disaster declaration for 21 Missouri Counties, including Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Scott, Stoddard and other Southeast Missouri counties. The declaration would allow local governments to recoup costs from the ice storm, which the state government estimates at $193 million.

Remembering Brad Skelton

Two ceremonies today — one in Gordonville and one in Jefferson City — will honor Sgt. Brad Skelton, the Gordonville soldier who died in Iraq a year ago today. The local ceremony also seeks to raise support for a bill to rename Interstate exits in honor of fallen soldiers.
