The electrical giant AmerenUE is hoping to prevent the massive outages that affected the St. Louis area after storms two years ago that knocked out power to hundreds of thousands.
Through a new partnership with St. Louis University the power company will monitor weather and determine where outages might be happening in the middle of storms.
The partnership only serves St. Louis.

A federal judge has set bond for the two defendants accused of perpetrating a mortgage fraud scheme centered in Sikeston.
Two men from the St. Louis area were indicted on 34 counts of mortgage fraud in April, but the indictment wasn't made public until this week. The men are accused of using loose lending practices to make extra money from loans.

A Cape Girardeau County jury handed down the ultimate punishment to a Poplar Bluff man Wednesday. Terrance L. Anderson was sentenced to death after the jury heard facts about the 1997 murder of Anderson's daughter's grandmother.
