COBDEN, Ill. -- A weekend traffic accident in Southern Illinois has claimed its third victim. A 2-year-old girl died Sunday afternoon from injuries suffered Saturday in a head-on crash south of Marion.
Madilyn Alexandria Homan, 2, died at 6 p.m. Sunday in St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Homan's mother, Laurie A. Hartsock Homan Gibbs, 26, and step-father, Scott Alan Gibbs, 32, both of Marion, were killed in the accident, which occurred about 10 a.m. Saturday on Highway 37, three miles south of Marion.
Gibbs, formerly of Alto Pass, and Homan, formerly of Cobden, were married Wednesday. A joint service was planned at 11 a.m. Wednesday for Madilyn Homan and Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs at the First Baptist Church in Cobden.
Two others were injured in the crash, Kelly Lena Maxine, 78, of Marion, driver of the other vehicle, and McKenzie Homan.
