BRANSON, Mo. -- Part of a concrete walkway collapsed over a 4-foot-deep stream at the Silver Dollar City theme park Monday afternoon, sending 19 visitors to a hospital.
Most of the injuries appeared to be minor scrapes and bruises, but one woman may have had more serious injuries to both legs, park spokeswoman Lisa Rau said.
All 19 were still being assessed about two hours later at Skaggs Community Health Center but appeared to be in satisfactory condition, hospital spokeswoman Tracey Barton said.
The 25-foot section of walkway was suspended about 2 1/2 feet above a waterway that forms the Lost River of the Ozarks ride, Rau said. Visitors line up on the 6-foot-wide walkway for a turn at riding a tube down the waterway, which is about 7 feet wide.
None of the estimated 24 people who were standing on the collapsed section was submerged, Stone County emergency management director Tom Martin said. Park employees helped the visitors off the walk, he said.
The Lost River ride was closed while authorities looked for the cause of the collapse.
