CAPE GIRARDEAU -- A Thebes, Ill., woman was injured Thursday afternoon in Cape Girardeau County when her car collided with a car carrying two Missouri residents, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported. Cynthia Hickerson, 48, received moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. The accident occurred when Hickerson, who was driving westbound on Highway 72 about four miles east of Millersville, crossed the center line and struck a car driven by Velda Thorne, 60, of Patton, Mo., the patrol reported. Hickerson's 1998 Ford then slid off the road and overturned, the patrol reported. Thorne received minor injuries, as did her passenger, Hannah Horman, 14, of Sedgewickville, Mo. They went to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for treatment. Hickerson was cited by the patrol for failure to drive on the right half of the road.
