The Imaginary Theatre Company of St. Louis will perform Rudyard Kipling's "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" in local schools next week.

The Imaginary Theatre Company is the professional touring ensemble of the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, and features Tracy Arnold, Catherine Berry, Christian Malmin and Patricia Peirre-Antoine.

The performances are sponsored by the Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts with financial assistance from the Missouri Arts Council and Southwestern Bell Foundation.

The group will perform at the following schools:

Monday, Trinity Lutheran and Alma Schrader in Cape Girardeau; Tuesday, Jefferson School and Franklin School in Cape Girardeau; Wednesday, St. Paul Lutheran and St. Vincent's School in Cape Girardeau; Thursday, Millersville School and Clippard School; Friday, East Prairie School and May Greene School.

"Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" is the classic short story of a young mongoose who defends his family of people from two evil cobras.
