Teresa Paikeday of Cape Girardeau has received a scholarship from the National Academy of Science, Space and Technology for the current school year.
One scholarship is awarded per congressional district.
Paikeday is a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School and now a freshman at the University of North Carolina.
The scholarship provides the cost of attendance for an academic year, up to $4,317.
Selection for the award was based on performance on the mathematics portion of the ACT examination, full-time enrollment and a plan to major in physical, life or computer sciences, mathematics or engineering.
