Luke Mouton of Carthage, Mo., runs over a stuffed bear while trying to text and drive the PACE car with Cpl. Kevin Eudy of the Cape Girardeau Police Department on Monday outside Drury Lodge. Mouton was one of many Missouri high school students attending the Team Spirit Leadership Training Program, which promotes safe driving habits and prevention of drug and alcohol use. Each day of the three-day conference, students and their advisers take workshops, including leadership training, drug trends, the dangers of texting and driving and the dangers of drinking and driving. One of the activities allowed students to wear Fatal Vision goggles that simulated a blood alcohol level from 0.07 to 0.20 while they performed a field sobriety test or played catch. "It certainly seemed as though it was going to be easy," said Mouton of the Fatal Vision goggle test.
