A Jackson teen was shot three times at a Jackson carwash early Tuesday evening in what police say may have been a love triangle dispute.
The 17-year-old's condition as of late Tuesday evening was listed as serious but stable at Saint Francis Medical Center, where he had been taken for treatment.
A Jackson juvenile was taken into custody in connection with the shooting immediately after the gunplay at the Shawnee Square Car Wash and Storage at 560 Shawnee Blvd.
Police received a call around 6:30 p.m. from a couple who had been driving by the scene, heard the shots and pulled over to assist the wounded teenager, Jackson police chief James Humphreys said.
A .22-caliber rifle was recovered at the scene, Humphreys said. He added that he did not believe another weapon was involved.
Multiple shots were fired, but Humphreys did not say how many casings were recovered by investigators.
Officers were trying to locate witnesses and investigate reports that the shooting involved a "love triangle-type motive" over a girl, Humphreys said.
