Lacey Hayes, 14, daughter of Wendy Hayes and granddaughter of Belle and Jim Litzelfelner, all of Jackson, will perform at the Jackson Municipal Band's concert Thursday night at the city park band shell.

Hayes made her singing debut three years ago, winning first-place honors at the Jackson Homecomer's talent show. She has since received several local and state awards in singing and dancing.

Hayes has performed at the SEMO District Fair, the SEMO Homebuilder's Association's spring show, and for numerous local organizations such as: the Jackson Heritage Association, the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association.

She is a regular "singing waiter" with the Robyn Hosp/Mike Dumey dinner showcase and was most recently featured in Mike Dumey's "Sing America Sing!" production, Friday and Saturday at the Route 25 Banquet Hall. The production will run again next Friday and Saturday.

At school, Hayes was on the eighth-grade junior high school girls basketball team and played trumpet in the junior high school band.

She is also on the "A" honor roll and served on the eighth-grade Student Council.

Hayes is a member of First Baptist Church.

The Jackson Municipal Band's portion at last Thursday night's concert included "A Discovery Fantasy," a collection of Gershwin hits by Warren Barker entitled "Gershwin," traditional marches such as : "Rolling Thunder," "Fairest of the Fair," "Brighton Beach," and a collection of marches from Broadway hit musicals. The trumpet section was featured on Frank Cofields' "Trumpet Ole." The concert concluded with Paul Yoder's arrangement of "Dry Bones."

Special guests Thursday were Shade Tree Folk Company who made their first appearance with the band two years ago and are back by popular demand. This talented group consists of Barney Hartline, Terry Wright and Jim Hickam.
