A juvenile male was shot three times and another juvenile was in custody early Tuesday evening following gunplay at a Jackson carwash.
Police responded to a call reporting shots fired at 6:24 p.m., Police chief James Humphreys said at the scene, the Shawnee Square Car Wash and Storage at 560 Shawnee Blvd.
The wounded teenager, who Humphreys called a suspect in the case, was taken to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for treatment.
Investigators at the scene were picking up bullet casings as evidence, but Humphreys did not say how many total shots were fired.
Both suspects were younger than 17, making both juveniles, Humphreys said. He was unsure of their exact ages.
Officers were trying to locate witnesses and investigate reports that the fight developed as part of a dispute over a girl, Humphreys said.
