Teen queen honored by House

The crowning moment of Teen Show Me Missouri's reign may not have been accepting her tiara.

Recently Teen Show Me Missouri Becky Koeller, a sophomore at Jackson High School, was presented with a resolution in honor of her volunteerism by the Missouri House of Representatives.

Reps. Jason Crowell and Scott Lipke sponsored the resolution citing Koeller's "service to citizens of Missouri through volunteerism" and extensive traveling "to promote tourism in Missouri."

Koeller's volunteering includes work with organizations like the Jackson Heritage Society, Make-a-Wish Foundation, the March of Dimes in Southeast Missouri -- where she has an honorary membership on the board of directors -- and Girl Scouts of Otahki Council.

Her tourism promotion includes appearances at opening ceremonies for the scenic overlook at Trail of Tears State Park and the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge. She has also led tours of the Oliver House and the Lewis and Clark Traveling Exposition, and has appeared in parades throughout the state during her reign.

At school, Koeller participates in choir, band, speech and debate club, and French Club. Koeller is also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and Lutheran Youth Ministry. She is in her eleventh year as a Girl Scout.

She is the daughter of Stan and Marty Koeller and granddaughter of Walter and Minnie Diefenbach.
