Teen injured in car accident Sunday on Route K

A 19-year-old was seriously injured Sunday following a single-car accident that occurred around 10:25 p.m. on Route K. Tyler A. Figliolo of Cape Girardeau was traveling westbound on Route K when he ran off the road near County Road 317, according to Sgt. Barry Hovis, spokesman for the Cape Girardeau Police Department. Figliolo overcorrected, his car overturned and he was ejected. He was not wearing a seat belt. Hovis described Figliolo's injuries Monday afternoon as life-threatening. The accident is under investigation to determine whether charges should be filed, Hovis said.
