POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- A Poplar Bluff teenager has been charged with stabbing her boyfriend with a pair of scissors and striking him repeatedly, including with a liquor bottle.
Brittany L. Jackson, 19, was charged with second-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action by Butler County Prosecuting Attorney Kevin Barbour.
After considering the complaint and probable-cause statement filed with the court, Associate Circuit Judge John Bloodworth issued a warrant for Jackson's arrest and set her bond at $50,000 cash or surety. Jackson had not been arrested by press time.
A condition of Jackson's bond is she is to have no offensive contact with her alleged victim, Josephus Blakely.
The complaint alleges Jackson on Thursday "attempted to cause physical injury to Josephus Blakely by stabbing him with a pair of scissors and striking him in the head with a gin bottle."
Authorities learned of the alleged assault at about 4:35 a.m. Thursday when Blakely arrived at the Poplar Bluff Police Department, where he spoke with patrolman Josh Stewart.
"While speaking with Mr. Blakely, he advised he had been stabbed several times by his girlfriend" while at her residence, Stewart said in his probable-cause statement.
According to Blakely's statement, the alleged assault occurred after Jackson had discovered a number on his cellular telephone that belonged to another girl.
"This began an argument, in which Ms. Jackson accused him of cheating on her," Stewart said.
Blakely reported he became "confrontational" and "got up in her face."
"The argument escalated and Ms. Jackson began to punch him with a closed fist in the head and face," Stewart said. "He attempted to get away, at which time, Ms. Jackson retrieved a pair of scissors.
"She began swinging the scissors at him and stabbing him with the scissors."
Jackson reportedly got Blakely's clothes and began throwing them around the room.
"She picked up a gin bottle and struck him in the head, causing a large knot," Stewart said.
Jackson allegedly threatened to kill Blakely, who "picked up his clothes and ran into the basement, where he bled all over the floor," Stewart said.
After putting his clothes in a bag, Stewart said, Blakely reported he left the residence.
"Mr. Blakely advised he felt his life was threatened," said Stewart, who photographed Blakely's injuries and rendered first aid. Blakely refused medical attention.
