An argument led a 17-year-old girl to attack another girl with a small knife on Sunday, Cape Girardeau police said.

The 16-year-old victim was taken to a hospital, where she was treated for a cut on the left side of her head, Sgt. Carl Kinnison said.

The cut was about three-fourths of an inch long, Kinnison said.

The fight occurred about 8:30 p.m. in an alley behind the 600 block of Good Hope Street. When police responded, the victim initially refused medical attention, Kinnison said.

She had been cut with a knife similar to a paring knife, he said.

No charges have been filed, but the incident is still under investigation.
