EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- A 14-year-old girl died Sunday from injuries she received in a single-vehicle accident late Saturday night.
Rachel Henry of East Prairie was killed when she was thrown from the vehicle in which she had been a passenger. Henry was airlifted to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo., following the accident and died at the hospital Sunday afternoon.
The accident happened at 11:40 p.m. Saturday six miles east of East Prairie on state Highway 80.
A car driven by Ambrosia Triplett, 16, was traveling at a high speed when the right rear tire began to come apart. Triplett lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road. The car overturned several times and Henry was thrown out.
Other passengers injured were Jason Abner, 17, and Nicholas Uthoff, 20, both of East Prairie. Triplett also was injured. All were taken to Missouri Delta Medical Center for treatment.
