Tiffiney Kies of Cape Girardeau Route 2 attended the Southeast Missouri Teen Institute on Substance Abuse near Ironton.
While at the institute, she was trained in skills to prevent alcohol and other drug abuse in the school and community.
She is the daughter of David and Diane Kies.
Students come from schools and communities within the 24 counties of Southeast Missouri.
The institute trains approximately 180 students each year and is the largest of six teen institutes held annually in Missouri.
The institute is administered by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse and the Southeast Missouri Institute for Prevention Services, a division of Southeast Missouri Community Treatment Center, a non-profit, non-governmental agency.
